Health Dept's Slackness at Sibu Airport
Ho Leng said that he could not understand why forms cannot be distributed in the plane but instead at the arrival hall.
He was shocked to be told by the Health Officer that he should just fill in the phone number and sign. Many just signed and walked off. Nobody gave any actual health status careful thought. Moreover some Malays passengers were given chinese forms.
He was difinitely upset over the Health Dept's slackness and wonder how could this be effective in monitoring of health status and H1N1

Home Quarantine-10 steps
The following is from the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
10 STEPS TO OBSERVE DURING HOME QUARANTINE
1. Stay at home throughout the quarantine period. (As far as possible, stay in a separate room to minimize contact with members of household).
2. You are strictly not allowed to leave home to go to work, attend school, tuition, place of worship, parties, shopping, social gathering or being at any public places.
3. Practise good personal hygiene:
Cover your nose and mouth with tissue, towel or handkerchief when coughing or sneezing. Discard soiled tissue in the trash can.
Frequently wash your hands with water and soap, especially after you cough or sneeze. Also wash your hands after touching your nose, mouth or eyes.
Avoid sharing personal toiletries such as towels, handkerchief, etc. If possible, avoid sharing toilet facilities
Make sure there is good ventilation in the premises where you are being quarantined.
Surfaces such as floor and table top contaminated by discharge from the nose and mouth (droplets) should be disinfected by a chlorine-based detergent (for example chlorox - mix 1 part of chlorox with 49 parts of water).
4. If you develop fever and any flu-like symptoms and need to communicate with others, wear a mask.
5. Minimize contact with friends or relatives and avoid going to public places.
6. Monitor your body temperature and look out for symptoms of the disease daily for seven (7) days.
7. If staying alone, get help from relatives or friends to get food and essential items.
8. If you have visitors during this period, record their names, addresses and telephone numbers.
9. If at any time you feel unwell and have fever, IMMEDIATELY contact the nearest District Health Office.
10. Get the latest information on the development of the disease from the Ministry of Health website, radio, television and newspapers.
STRICTLY FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY

H1N1 in Bintulu- where is the Commander in Chief
I am really disappointed that the director of the Bintulu hospital was not there when I visited him this morning at nine am.
I mean, at a crucial time like this when H1N1 had already spreaded to Bintulu , one would expect that the commander in chief would be around. Yet he is not, but had gone for meeting in Kuching till the second of July, they said.
People in Bintulu want to know what is going on, they need advise and directions at the ground level, on what to do, so that we can work together to minimise the spread of the disease .
When I was at the hospital, I was told that no one can say anything about what is going on with the disease, only the director.
When there is no information, people are kept in the dark. People could be on low alert and may get careless or into a ‘never mind’ attitude. Things could get out of hand that way.
As this matter is not just a medical matter, it is also about the public. The disease is a public matter and that is when the public should be informed and be involved to effectively curb the spread of the disease.
Mind you, there were 80 others in the plane with the 1st patient of Bintulu. Have they all been contacted and what is the situation with them, are they among us?
People need clear directions for those who had been in contact with the patient.
Then again, we also would like to know the readiness of our Hospital if in case, the disease is spread more widely here.
I urge Dr. George Chan to appoint a spoke person for the Bintulu Division here in Bintulu so that the people can get first hand info from him as he would be right here and can see for himself and relate the situation to all of us here.
I would like to call on the people in Bintulu to stay calm and not panic in a time like this and if ever we feel sick with flu like symptoms like fever, sore throat, cough, head ach, body ach, difficulty in breathing, we should go to the Hospital and see the doctors.
We must not be afraid to come out and see the doctors as we cannot afford to take the matter light heartedly. Because by not revealing sickness and not seeking treatment, we may end up getting other people infected, may be those who are close to us or even our loved ones.

H1N1 in Bintulu
A firt case of H1N1 is now spreaded to Bintulu. It was brought in by a student who had returned from Australia on flight MH 2742 flying from KL to Bintulu on the 25th of June, 2009.
At the moment the sick student is quarantine in the Bintulu Hospital.
There were 80 other passengers on the same flight.
A lady passenger on the flight called me this morning on what she should do. From my twitting just now any person in contact with the sick person can call 086 3365222 giving them your name, phone number and addresss, the Policlinic Operation Room staff will call/come to see you.
When the lady receieved the call from the operation room staff, he said that she sat too far from the sick person so she is ok. what do you think?
At the moment the sick student is quarantine in the Bintulu Hospital.

Payment Must Be Prompt By All

吉都隆区州立委周政新说政府应该确保即时付还所欠于承包商，供应商等的款项，不得拖延。
当然，这一切的付款程序都应该按照施工或供货的程度及合约的规定而付还。既然承包商，供应商履行了他们的工作，政府也理所当然的要执行他们如期付款的责任。
但是，往往我们还是在商场上，常常都听到承包商说，政府的付款还未出所以没钱还。接下去的就是，承包商没钱还二手承包商，而二手承包商也没有还车期，货期，工人的工钱，甚至连自己的屋期和工钱时常也都不够拿。家中的费用也成了问题，因而也引发了许多其他的问题。
所以，在今天这经济萧条，行情这么差的时刻，当每个人都需要钱的时候，政府应该要确保，他们所花的钱，能够真正的带动市场现金的流动，并刺激经济的成长。
我想政府这种积极的做法，在今天这经济萧条非常的时刻，也会激励一些其他各大行业的大顾主们，起带头作用，来维持市面现金的周转，进而改善市场经济的活动及社会的繁荣与安宁。
随着本州的代木业逐步的被垄断式的做法而取代，许多前木山工作人员都纷纷的投入政府所大鼓吹的油棕业做承包工作。他们不惜利息的消费向银行贷款，有的买了车，买机械及聘请工人到油棕芭去承包工作。
可是每每到了月尾他们所被付还的数额总是比所做的工少的许多。做的越久就被拖欠的越多，每月所能拿到的收入几乎还不够还车期，屋期等。有时甚至自己还要掏腰包来付还开销。
日子久了，一些承包商在面对入不付出的时候，便面对随时都要被银行拉车，拉屋子的状况。有些大顾主甚至连工人的工钱也要被拖欠数月，导致他们也陷入大困境。
虽然政府有贷款可申请，但是单靠承包商们的贷款是不够的。况且申请贷款也不是容易的一件事。
然而，假如顾主们能付还给承包商们所欠的数额，钱由上而下，并流入我们的市场，我相信在这经济萧条的时刻，大家将会比较有信心的渡过这次的难关。

Let Bygone Be Bygone

吉都隆区州议员周政新说在陈平的事件上，政府应该以更宽怀的态度来看待与处理。
这是因为随着时代的转变以及我国与中国，两国间关系的改善，而共产主义，不管是马共，中共或是苏共，对我国的安全根本不再是一个威胁，这也已是近几十年来一个公认的事实。
再者，前几个星期我国首相纳吉到中国的访问以及他父亲，前首相拉扎35年前的破冰之旅， 都展示了两国友善的交往。假如大家都是朋友，我看不出为什么前马共总秘书长陈平为何不能被允许回来。不要忘了，至今他还是马来西亚公民。
在前首相马哈迪的时代，他1989的哈艾怡和平条约（Haadyai Peace Accord）也至使马共的解散，而2位的马共最高领袖，主席- 慕沙阿末 （Musa Ahmad）及妇女组主任- 桑霞花克尔 (Shamsiah Fakir) 也于90年代的时候回国，并也得到当时媒体大事报道，特别是马来报章。
他们三位都是前马共最高的领袖。之中，假如慕沙阿末及桑霞花克尔可以回来马来西亚，那么为什么陈平不可？
有人说马共的领袖出卖了国家，但是也有大学学者与很多的马来西亚人， 虽然他们不同意马共的枪杆斗争， 并谴责许多战斗之时人命的损失，包括军人，人民与亲人，但是他们还是认为马共是选择错了路线的爱国者。
假如陈平是所说的卖国者，那为何马哈迪的政府又在1985年接洽磋相哈艾怡和平条约。
陈平在他的书中提到拉欣诺，甚至认同马共为我国1957年8月31日的独立做出贡献。他也在书中提到，似乎他回马来西亚的实兆湾也是该哈艾怡和平条约的条件之一，那政府又怎么说？
在日本侵略我国的时代，陈平一帮人马当时与日本人对抗，也死了很多的同志。今天日本战争已过，马来西亚与日本是友国。假如我们能够忘去过去日本人在我国的所作所为，为何陈平不能被接受回国？
我希望政府不要再一直以选择性的方式来处理事情，如选择否认陈平的回归，红登记人士不被平反，乡区的人士得不到出生字或身份证，成绩好的人士又不能得大学奖学金等，的一贯作风。

Big Cars Stolen Just Like That !?

吉都隆区州议员周政新说劫车案件应该马上给于制止。
在过去整个月内发生了7宗的劫车案件及5宗企图偷车案件，还未提出许多抢夺金链等案件的发生， 说明了民都鲁已爆发了严重的劫车案。
周氏指出，假如这些案件没有马上被制止，那劫车案件恐将变本加厉，越偷越厉害，而其他犯罪案件恐也将随后而来，因為人們还以为偷、搶别人的东西是沒有什么的。
到时犯罪案件猖狂，人民又是人心惶惶，治安败坏，害苦的是老百姓。
所以，劫車案件，如沒有馬上被制止，必定会间接的鼓励一些社会的人士，也有样学样，打抢起来，这边偷，那边搶，到时要鏟除這些罪案，恐怕已是太迟了。
況且，今天当政府在推动砂再生能源走廊之时，外国来的人数也在增加。假如劫车、偷、抢案频频发生，我相信他们会往其他治安更有保障的地方去投资，也不必来砂罗越。所以治安不好將嚇走外資。
今天匪徒的作风已是越来越大胆，甚至在光天化日之下打人、劫车、抢金链等， 根本就没有把法律放在眼里。
我坚决的认为，我国有必要修改我们今天相关的法令，以更严厉的惩罚，来对付这些的匪徒，包括买贼赃的人士。只有這樣才能起作用以扑灭我国的劫車、偷、搶等案件。
假如我国的法律不够严厉，匪徒们被抓了一时又放掉或只给轻微的罚款，那这些人会认为犯法在國根本不是一回事。
還有非法外勞也要好好的受到控制与突絕。
与此同时，警方也必须加强工作，把这些的案件列为头等议程，並下决心铲除劫车及其他偷、搶案件的发生，来保护人民的财物，并還给我們一个安宁的社会。

Sexual Assualts by teacher on Primary School girls is condamned

吉都隆区州议员周政新谴责民省一小学老师性侵小学生的行為。
周氏说，作为一名老师，为人师表， 要緊抱教学的宗旨及以崇高道德的观念来教学，以赢得学生，家长及社會人士的尊重。
周氏又说，作为一名老师，他的责任是在学校教書，教导学生。假如他有其他的念头或企图， 那他根本就不适合當成一名老师，應該辭掉職位，以免做了害了他人子弟又害自己。
「该名老师真的是禽兽都不如，完全失去理智， 竟向自己所教还未成年，幼小的学生性侵。我說该老师应该馬上被革职及严厉的处罚，杀鸡以敬猴。」
今天，我国学校，各种各样败坏的校风已越来越严重。我相信报纸上所刊登的只是一些，还有许多的也许我们都不知道。因此該是时候我们的学校重整校风，並 树立起好学校的形象。
而教育部也应该检讨我国教育的制度及素質，因为该小学的老师也是在我们教育制度下的学校所教出来的。所以今天我国的教育制度肯定的已生病了。如不加以检讨及改良，我相信我们学校將來只有越来越坏。
我对4名受伤害的小学生表示伤心并希望有关方面会给于他们良好的辅导。

BWTC - where are the rooms for the coupons paid

吉都隆区州议员周政新说西马、吉隆坡的BWTC 应该兑现其承诺，让已购买酒店优惠卷的顾客能继续用它来订房使用。
周氏说做为一间高级的酒店，BWTC 应该充份的展示其高级做生意专业的精神， 那就是要向顾客们负起责任。
既然顾客们已预付了全部的款額来购买优惠卷，那BWTC 收了人家的钱就应该执行他们另一半的职责。
据我所知，东马许多人士，包括我在内，都在其公司年轻商業代理人的努力之下，向BWTC 购买了优惠卷，以示支持及消费在西马旅店廉价的收费，去西马玩玩，以促进东、西马两地的旅游及交流。但万万却没有想到，该西马公司，却拿了人家的钱而在近期却不交货。
BWTC 这种的做法叫东马人民对西马商家失去信心及打擊我國东、西马兩地的关系。所以新首相，纳吉的「一个马来西亚」口号只不过说爽而已，实际上东、西马两地的情况他根本不了解。
BWTC 大慨在一年多前的时候，在东马各处开始售卖他的优惠卷。开始的几个月都没有问题，但后来过了半年多的時間，西马的工作人员就开始很不客气地说三讲四，限制人数住房等事，好像我们东马人在做贼似的。可是那是公寓式的居住，多了几个人住又有何妨。
顾客们买了优惠卷，原本就是希望能住更多一點人，来省些去西马的旅游费。开始的时候都可以，后来为何又不能。之后，BWTC 的工作人员，又限定该优惠卷只能一个月用几次，而其他的时候却不能使用。 除此之外，也时常遇到要定房间却没有空房等等，就是处处在刁难东马的顾客啦。 而且，在你当面检查你退房 时所展示出来的态度，好像我们东马人有拿他什么東西一樣。
之后优惠卷起价了，每个房间一天从100元加到200元，而且又要两个月前预定。最后， 到了近期， 据本地代理人的報訾，却演变成不能使用了。
我希望西马的BWTC， 不要只以为可走漏洞，而忘记了做生意的道德与责任。所售卖的都应该兑现给人。更不要忘记善待所有的顾客，特别是自家的东马人。
我手中还有多张的优惠卷，我希望BWTC 應該继续让所有持有优惠卷的人士都能够在限期內，无限制的用完手中的优惠卷，免得我们要报警，甚至在国会提出，毕竟我们的钱都已付清了。

周氏说做为一间高级的酒店，BWTC 应该充份的展示其高级做生意专业的精神， 那就是要向顾客们负起责任。
既然顾客们已预付了全部的款額来购买优惠卷，那BWTC 收了人家的钱就应该执行他们另一半的职责。
据我所知，东马许多人士，包括我在内，都在其公司年轻商業代理人的努力之下，向BWTC 购买了优惠卷，以示支持及消费在西马旅店廉价的收费，去西马玩玩，以促进东、西马两地的旅游及交流。但万万却没有想到，该西马公司，却拿了人家的钱而在近期却不交货。

Compulsory Pass in English in SPM Exams.
I must say that I am happy to see that the BN government had eventually come to some sense of trying to raise the standard of English in our country by requiring a pass in the English subject for SPM examination.
For decades, educationalist, professionals and others alike had been concerned about the standard of English in our primary and secondary schools. This when compare to the English standard of earlier days the gap is really worrying. A couple of generations of our people had lost their opportunity to learn good English, and mind you, Malaysian of all races speak good English when given a chance to learn . Many of us are linguistically inclined.
English is undeniable an international language and the learning of which would definitely give an advantage to a person whether in the field of commercial, academics and others and that would surly put us be at par with many of the other countries in the world, if not better.
Saying it easy, however, to really bring the standard of English in our school to a higher level is not an easy job and it will come with time, gradually and in stages. First of all we would need all the learning tools we can lay our hands on. Teachers will have to be well trained and well prepaid also, starting solidly from the earlier stages of education like in the primary and junior primary school. We must not forget that many of the teachers probably did not come out from an English speaking environment when they were students and now they have to teach the language.
The situation could be even more difficult for rural schools, being rural, and there must be special effort put in to make sure that be they rural or urban schools, progress must be the same and no one should be left behind.
Than again, as for Chinese students, they would have three languages to learn and pass and could poise a problem for some but must and could be overcome.
But, whatever it is, though the requirement for a pass in English is needed for SPM would be an added pressure for most students but it also poise itself as a challenge to the students to spend more time in their studies and do better. After all that is what they are in school for to learn and to study.
It is sad to say that the standard of our English had dropped so much during the long rule of the Mahathir regime. For over two decades we suffer and that is why it is important that politician must not meddle in Eduacation for their political gain at the expanse of the country as a whole. It is best be left to the Educationalists and the Professionals.

Throwing Molotov Cocktail is Cowardice
I must condemn the equivalent to terrorist act of throwing the Molotov cocktail at the house of Chong Chieng Jin in Kuching.
It is a cowardice act and totally uncalled for. There is no need to resort to this kind of doing it behind one’s back kind of thing.
This is completely untypical of what a civil and democratic society should be and it leaves a bad example for others to emulate. This must stop.
It is most disheartening that some people in this peace loving country would resort to anything just to get on to another person even if the act is immoral, violent and criminal.
Whatever it is, in a democratic society like ours, whatever the differences are, there are many channels and avenues to allow for expressed opinion or debate to settle one’s differences.
Political motives cannot be ruled out in throwing the Molotov cocktail into the house of Chong Chieng Jin as Chong is nothing but politics. As a Member of Parliament and Sarawak State Assemblyman , he eat, sleep and live politics. It is very unlikely that matter can be personal.
I call on the Police to go all out to catch the culprit and let him or her be punished as we do not want to see this kind of thing happening to anybody or any politician be they from the ruling or opposition party or independent, in our country. The police must not leave any stone unturned including the likelihood of political motives behind the whole thing.
I also urge that police to step up it forces and bring down the crime rate in our state to a minimum as the criminal are seen to be getting more and more fierce and frequent, breaking into homes, snatching gold necklaces, stealing cars in our State because they know more often than not they can get away with it. And now come the Molotov cocktail, who knows what could be next if crime are not stopped immediately and effectively.
I have SMS to Chong Chieng Jin to express my regrets for what had happened but nevertheless glad that no big harm is done to the house or family members. Chong had replied and said that he is thankful for my concerns as well as many other people.

Allocate Inudustrial Land for SMI
民主行動党民都魯支部主席,砂羅越州民主行動党署理主席及砂羅越州吉都隆區立委周政新2O09年6月9日文告如下:
吉都隆区州议员周政新呼吁民都鲁发展局拨地给省内中、小型工业业者。
他说民都鲁发展局在大力提倡大工业区发展的时候，也应该给与中、小型工业區及发展各方面的协助。
周氏指出，自民都鲁发展局成立至今，在這30年頭里，很多的工业地都是供给大型的厂家如吉都隆的石油化学工业区，格美娜木业区，在兴建中的棕油工业区，及最新6000公顷的密集能源工业区。可是在相比較之下，30年来，所提供给本地中、小型工業者的仅2½半的轻工业区及吉都隆工业区。这是不够的，而许久已来也辛苦了中小工業的业者，導至他們的工業難於健全的發展。
他们在没有选择之下只好购买工业店。许多至今已显得不够用，甚至一些东西已没地方好放，只好放在篱笆外。
都已30年了，中小型工业者对地段的需求已大大的增加，民都鲁发展局有责任提供给他们更多适当、廉价的工业地段，及各种的方便来为民都鲁提供更多的本地投资，制造就业机会，增加民都鲁的生產量，来一起发展民都鲁。
做为一个地方的发展局，我们是不能够只为大工业着想，而忽略了其他相關的人士。况且许多的大工业的投资都是外来的垮國大公司，他们赚了钱之后有多少会真正的受惠于砂州人民。
所以政府應該积极的培养本地的工业家，来加强本州工业的发展与基础。假如说，被指定为发展工业为使命的民都鲁发展局，至今成立了30年还不能培养出本身，本地的工业家，那肯定的它有必要重新检讨其工业发展的政策以確保它會受惠于全体的人民。
政府不应该因为一些人士买了工业地而迟迟未发展为理由而停止开发工业区的地给中、小型业区。这些执行工作上的问题都有办法解决的。但决不能因为这执行方面的问题而停止如撥工業地給中、小型工業者好政策的执行。

Rural Poor
Rural Poor
Many of the folks living in longhouses are facing such hardships with their day to day living. The problem is, it is so hard for them to make enough money to make ends meet.
It seems like there is never enough money to keep up with the expenses of the family no matter how hard they work. The chase for money seems never end.
Today a mother of a family of 4 children came to my office seeking for some help as his eldest son is going to college in Kuching to study Estate Management. She had scrapped the bottom of their savings of money that she had made from planting and selling vegetables. Being single handed, though she works from sun rise till sun set, how much can she grow and sell and how much can she really save over the years. Her husband works as a sundry lorry driver making a few hundred ringgit a month.
That is all they got each month living from day to day, month to month and year after year. Now the time had come that she would have to come up with enough money for the son to further his study. She is determined that she will find some in anyway she can so that he can go to college. I did my little part.
She said that she is lucky that she still have the longhouse land where she can plant vegetables to sell in town, and if she looses her land to plantation company she would not know how to find a living, as it would be impossible for her to get a job having live in the longhouse all her lives. She would be broke and her other children would never have a chance to go for further study anymore.
Living is so tough these day for the longhouse folks, with rising prices for goods and lack of income, most of the rural folks are poor and have very little money. I say, for all the years that the BN government had been in power apart from the urban poor, they have failed the rural folks in helping them to have better income to live a better life.

Stop Creating Split in PAS and PR
Prime Minister Najib should not busy himself with asking PAS to join UNMO to form
the government. Instead he should be more concerned with pertinent and pressing issues like saving the economy, fighting corruption, racial and other issues in the country.
Pakatan Rayat (PR) comprising of DAP, PAS and PKR are working well as a coalition and there is no need for the Prime Minister to be jealous of it and try to break the coalition by sweet talking to PAS.
In fact the very idea of the formation of the PR is to bring about the formation of a two party system in Malaysia where the people will have an alternative choice for government during election.
The two party system is a healthy political development in Malaysia after 50 years of ruling by non other than UNMO and their component parties which has brought about much corruption, abuse of power, disharmony etc etc.
Face with the loosing support of the BN as led by UNMO after the last general election, It is understandable that Prime Minister would want to break up the PR coalition for their gain. With the support which the people are throwing at the PR, the BN is seeing the last days of their once mighty empire. The Prime Minister knows it and he is worried.
Differences of views in a democratic party is normal, the fact that President of PAS have a different views with the rest of the members in talking to UNMO is nothing new. But at the end of the day the party as a whole decide.
I am sure that PAS will not forget who was it that took away the Meteri Besarship of PAS in Perak. So then, who in the right set of mind will then want to work with an enemy like that?
I therefore urge that all parts to stop harping on the issue to create political instability in PAS, PR and country but to put our hearts and mind to save our economy.
